Former Sri Lanka seamer Chaminda Vaas says he is impressed by the aggressive cricket that India is playing in the current Test series against his countrymen.
India lost the first Test, of the three-match series, in Galle after dominating the first four days of the match but bounced back to comprehensively beat the hosts in the second Test at the P. Sara Oval.
In both matches new India captain Virat Kohli has not been afraid to take risks in order to see his side win and that nature of cricket is what impresses Vaas, who took 355 wickets in 111 Tests for Sri Lanka.

Vaas said: “It is good that India is playing aggressive cricket. All good sides do, especially when they play with five bowlers. They are rebuilding under Virat Kohli and I like their aggressive brand of cricket.
“At Galle, they got bogged down after the match turned against them. But they didn’t let that happen again. Sri Lanka will have to play very good cricket to try to beat them again.”
The former left-arm bowler has also backed India’s policy to go with five specialist bowlers in Test cricket, instead of the traditional four.

Kohli has said countless times that he wants the extra bowler in the side to get 20 wickets in the match.
Vaas commented: “Playing five bowlers gives a certain balance to teams. But that is not always possible. Then different combinations are tried out.
“There may not be proper all-rounders in there, but all good sides have players who can perform dual roles.”
The third and final Test starts on 28 August in Colombo.

Sri Lanka fast bowling Coach Chaminda Vaas tendered his resignation yesterday to Sri Lanka Cricket and he is expected to fly to Brisbane later this month to complete his level III coaching course.
Ceylon Today exclusively reported on 4th March under the headline ‘”I’m going as I’m frustrated” – Vaas, that Chaminda Vaas is planning to retire from his position after the 2015 World Cup due to frustrations about the prevailing system back then.
Vaas had been offered the new position as Sri Lanka under 19 bowling coach, which he had rejected after the meeting with the officials of the interim committee.
Vaas has further said that he will take a decision about his future following his course in Brisbane while he is planning to conduct a media briefing before his journey to reveal the reasons behind his resignation.
As Vaas described back then, he has not been given a free hand to carry out his duties and further added that he has no intention of serving the country in the future. He had also said that he has received an offer to coach from a foreign country.
“To be very honest, I’m frustrated. There are many things that are happening here. After this (my final tournament), I hope to reveal everything to the press at a future date,” said Vaas during the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Vaas served as head of Sri Lanka bowling coach from February 2013 where Sri Lanka fast bowlers delivered to win a Test series in England as well as to drawing a series against Pakistan in UAE. Rumesh Rathnayake was appointed as the fast bowling consultant during the concluded World Cup Tournament.
