“We have about 20 odd overs to get the new ball, and if we can use our spinners to bowl those overs quickly keeping a target above 130, we could turn the game in our favour. And if we can take two wickets within those overs that would be superb” said Chandimal, who is still optimistic about the game, where Pakistan is just 148 runs away from a series victory with eight wickets in hand.
Pakistan lost early wickets in the chase but they got back on track through superb batting by Shan Masood and Younis Khan, who both posted unbeaten centuries.
“Credit goes to their batters. They batted brilliantly. After 30 overs hardness of the ball went off and didn’t do much for the seamers,” said Chandimal describing the change in the pitch.
“I got starts in Galle but couldn’t capitalize. But happy I could do it here under pressure” added the former T20 skipper, who made his first half century in the series
