Gateway College won the overall Championship at the Inter International Scools Chess Championship. The competition organized by Regent International School Gampaha saw over 500 competing in 6 age groups. Lyceum International School panadura,emerged first runner-up and Lyceum International School Wattala second runner-up.

Gateway College won the under 12 and 19 Championships and was runner up in the under 10. The performance of the juniors goes to show that the sport is growing to be a popular one at Gateway.
Shenel Walatara (U-8), Senith Weerasooriya, Jithindu Athapattu (U-10), Kulisa Nanayakkara, Dulain Perera, Hevidu Samarakoon, Yugatharoon Saravanabavan (U-12), Gajitha Nanayakkara (U-14), Jithran Ekanayake, Yathidu Arangala, Bharatha Gunasena, Keshin Karunaratne, Bhagya Mendis, Raveen Gamage, Dishan Weerakoon and Riya Patel (U-19) won Board prizes at this competition.
Gateway’s chess player Kulisa Nanayakkara became the All Island Champion of U-13. Along with his brother they have had an outstanding year in the sport. He and his brother Gajitha Nanayakkara have been selected to represent Sri Lanka in the World Schools Chess Championship at Pattaya, Thailand and the 11th Asian Schools Chess Championship 2015 in Singapore
