”I don’t like power play ”;Jonty Rhodes

Jonty Rhodes, the former South African, believes that power play is not suitable for the ODI Cricket arena. He expressed this view at a press briefing held at R. Premadasa International Stadium.
He further stated that at least one additional player should be allowed out of the 40 metre circle in the power play overs. “Some time it’s very difficult to save boundaries during the power play,” he said.
“I was very impressed about Sri Lankan player’s hard work and Malinga bowling well during the training season and physical fitness is very important and age is not a barrier for playing cricket.”
During the press briefing, he stressed on fielding techniques that were imparted to Sri Lankan players from his past experience as a reputed fielder. Jonty Rhodes the former South African great arrived on 26 May in Sri Lanka on a short stint for 10 days as a fielding coach. Rhodes is here ahead of the upcoming home series against Pakistan which starts this month.
The 45-year-old during his stint here had guided the coaches, the Sri Lanka players and other national, development and junior teams on the latest techniques of fielding.
Sri Lanka will host Pakistan for three Tests, five one-dayers and two Twenty 20 Internationals from 17 June – 1 August.
