Speaking at the press briefing held at OZO Colombo yesterday, Group Director Theja Peiris stated that “sponsoring and being part of the country’s oldest school athletic championship for the fourth consecutive year has given us the opportunity to extend our support to young athletes around the country.”
“At present, participation of children in sports, and especially in athletics, is at a very low level. It’s our duty to educate and financially support them to participate in sports at school level,” said Theja Peiris. “Sir John Tarbet Athletic Championship is an opportunity for many budding school athletes to showcase their talent at National level. Ritzbury has contributed towards the improvement of various sports and we do this to encourage and provide opportunities to our athletes to reach their full potential while keeping in line with our CSR initiative,” said Nilupul De Silva, Marketing Manager of CBL.
The junior championship will be held in September at Anuradhapura Public Grounds
