Sarfraz made the difference – Azhar
Pakistan Captain Azhar Ali singled out wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfraz Ahmed for praise saying he made the difference as they beat hosts Sri Lanka by 135 runs to take a two-one lead in the five-match series.
Sarfraz, who was promoted from number seven to number four in the batting order, scored 77 from just 74 balls as the visitors posted 316 for four in their 50 overs.
It was then the bowlers, led by leg spinner Yasir Shah who took four wickets, skittled the Sri Lankans out for 181 in 41 overs.Azhar said: “It’s a wonderful performance. It was a great team effort. Everyone played well and did as much as they could do. Before the match, we spoke that he (Sarfraz Ahmed) can bat at number four.
“He batted really well, played his natural game and that made the difference in the end. The big positive from the loss in the last game was the fight we showed. We need to keep moving forward.
“Every batter and bowler chipped in on the day of the match. Everyone was on top of their game. Everyone is putting their hundred percent.”
The fourth ODI is in Colombo on Wednesday.
