Kandy District Under 13 boys Mini Basketball Championship

Ten schools from Kandy will participate in the Kandy District Under 13 boys Mini Basketball Championship organized by the Kandy District Basketball Association which will be played at Trinity College Courts, Kandy today and tomorrow (May 29 and 30) and the finals on Sunday May 31 at St Anthony’s Girls College Courts, Katugastota.

The President of the Kandy District Basketball Association D S Pingamage said that basketball in Kandy which was at a low ebb at one time and it is now being given a big boost by conducting tournaments for all age groups for boys and girls and also for clubs.

This tournament is for little ones for them to make a start and it will be played under round rules.

The participating teams are Colombo International School (Kandy Branch) Azar Central College, Akurana, Gateway College, Kandy, Trinity College, St Anthony’s College, St Benedicts College, St Sylvester’s College, Vidyartha College and Kingswood College.

Two new schools will be seen in the pray. They are Vidyartha College and St Benedict’s College, Kandy.

Vidyartha College will known for table tennis, rugby and cricket have now taken to basketball. St Benedict’s College is a small private school opened very recently at Katugastota. Perhaps this is the first sporting event they will be participating.
