Katukurunda Circuit Meet 2015………………

One of the most prestigious motor racing events in the racing calendar, the Katukurunda Circuit Meet 2015 will be ready to burn the track at the Sri Lanka Air Force runway in Katukurunda this weekend.

This will also be the first round of the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) – Asian Motor Racing Club (AMRC) Tarmac Championship.

The Katukurunda Circuit which is regarded as the fastest track in Sri Lanka, allows the drivers and riders to reach top speeds in the two long stretches. With some of the most outstanding drivers and riders gearing up to show their prowess at the Air Force track, spectators will be assured of spectacular combination of mean machines and skilled drivers.

The meet will see some of the top class drivers in action in the fastest event of the day, the Group – SL GT Cars Up to 3500 CC event, including multiple national champion Ashan Silva, Ishraq Wahab, Darin Weerasinghe, Dinesh Jayawardena, Abeeth Dangalla, Missaka Naveen and Dilan Seneviratne. In other car events, young Kushan Peiris, Chaminda Weerasuriya, Rajith Uluwita, Susantha Gunawardena, Nishan Wasalathanthri, Sajaad Zuhair, Shashika Lakmal Wijeratne, S Mannapperuma, Zaakir Wahab, Ajith Keerthi and Hafiz Cader will be among the top contenders vying for honours.

Meanwhile, Maduranga Caldera who has always maintained a top record at the Katukurunda Track, will be up against stiff opposition from others in the Group – M Standard / Modified Motorcycles Open Over 250 cc which will be the fastest event among two wheelers.

In another highly competitive event, the Group – SM Super Motard Upto 450 CC category race, veteran riders Ananda Wedisinghe, Kasun Danushka Sudasinghe, Udika Srimal Malavige, Suraj Perera, Lahiru Rajeewa De Silva and Chaminda De Silva will be looking to entertain spectator in the best way they can.

The SLARDAR-AMRC Tarmac Championship will see more than 200 drivers and riders in action during 22 events, including two formula events, the SL F Formula McLarens 4 EFI 1300 CC and Carburetor 1300 CC.
