The inaugural Open Badminton tournament;Sri Lanka Air Force
The inaugural Open Badminton tournament, organized by Sri Lanka Air Force and conducted by Sri Lanka Badminton Association will take place from 10 – 13 June at the Air Force Health Management Centre, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo.
This tournament is ranked at National level and conducted by the Badminton Association of Sri Lanka under the rules and regulations of World Badminton Federation and Asia Badminton Confederation.
Over 50 males and 35 females, among them Sri Lanka ranked players and other badminton players, will play in this tournament. The tournament will be played over 4 days commencing 10 June and the closing ceremony is on 13 June.
Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Kolitha Gunathilake will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony.
Day one will commence with first round matches with open Men’s and Women’s singles and doubles, and day two will see the second round to quarter-finals in open singles and doubles, veterans and mixed doubles. Day three will see the semi finals in all matches and day four will be the finals of all matches.
Men’s and Women’s single and doubles champions will get Rs.40,000 cash award and runners up will get Rs.20,000 respectively. Mixed double champions will receive Rs.30,000 while runners up will get Rs.20,000
