Referees Society to boycott Trinity matches

After the Science -Trinity College rugby match at Pallekelle yesterday, an angry section of the crowd abused and assaulted the onfield referee Irshad Carder, who was with greater difficulty taken in to the sports complex with the assistance of the security personnel. When contacted the president of the Referee’s Association- ASP Nizam Jamaldeen said” Even I have received information that above incident took place in Pallekelle in the Trinity-Science rugby match and I’m awaiting the final report from the on field referee Carder, to be forward to the schools rugby association to conduct a formal inquiry about it for the final outcome”.

“As the head of referees I am liable for the safety of all my referees and providing security to the referees are a total responsibility of the host school authorities, hence will have a immediate emergency meeting to decide whether we are going to referee any more Trinity College games that they are hosting in future” concluded Jamaldeen. – WAI
